Borderline Boardgames · Learning through play

Two Erasmus+ projects, one radical idea: games can do what classrooms cannot. We designed four educational tools — Mission Z, Real iDeal, Value Cards and The 4 Headed Monkey — to work on values, conflict, identity and inclusion with young people across Europe.

// Two projects · one mission

Two projects. One family of games.

BB Games was born in Norway in 2014 to answer a simple question — can we learn the most important things in life by playing? BB Games Legacy picked up the baton from Belgium in 2019 to push it further, with new games and new countries.

BB Games Borderline Boardgames

The founding project. Coordinated from Norway, it brought together a network of European youth organisations to design and test the first game-based educational tools: Mission Z, Real iDeal and Value Cards. Three years of prototyping, workshops and non-formal educator training across six countries.

BB Games Legacy Picking up the baton

Five years later, a new consortium led from Belgium picks up the methodology, updates it for a post-pandemic world and adds a fourth game: The 4 Headed Monkey, an immersive experience on systems thinking, sustainability and complex problem solving. More partners. More languages. More impact.

The 4‑Headed
Monkey

We all know that values play a crucial role in our lives — but can you tell which values guide the lives of those around you? Do we defend them at all times? What happens when we do, and when we don’t? This educational experience is about exactly that: discovering the values of others while we learn about the 76 European values already identified in Value Cards.
